Programs and General Meetings 2025-2026

September 23:  New Guild Year Overview and Super Summer Show & Tell.

September marks the beginning of regular guild meetings after the summer break for Nevada County Fair events. Join us in person for a peek at upcoming events, approval of the budget, the introduction of this year’s guild theme, and the selection of this year’s guild challenge. Guild member Kate Grant will share about her recent visit to Iceland. She will provide some interesting facts about the country and will describe and show examples of traditional Icelandic yarn as well as present pictures of a variety of fiber art pieces. We will have show & tell and may even have a door prize drawing!

October 28:  Halloween Party and Costume Contest

NOTE:  LATE START due to library conflict. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and we will get the party started ASAP. This is an in-person meeting only. No ZOOM option.

Bring some spooky snacks or dastardly desserts to share for a potluck. BYOB (non-alcoholic only, it’s library rules).

Fibers Costume contest: Dress up in a costume featuring something you made from yarn, or dress up as a skein of yarn! Wear anything fiber arts themed - let’s see your creativity (or maybe your skills with the mighty pun?)

Jack o’ Yarn decorating contest: Lanterns are so old fashioned; why not use yarn instead? Bring a pumpkin that you decorated with yarn or felt or other fibery goodness.

As always, guests are welcome to attend one meeting free of charge prior to joining the guild.

November 25:  Make It & Take It - Wrapped "Zen" Rocks with Victoria James

This is an in-person meeting only. No ZOOM option.

Victoria will show us how to weave on small rocks. This is a great project to use up small bits of interesting materials.

Bring:

  • Rocks, about palm sized, flat-ish ones work best.
  • Material to weave with. Medium cane, reed, waxed linen, cordage, leather cord or lacing, anything else that you want to try. Materials 1mm to 3mm in diameter are about the right size.
  • Scissors
  • Small awl for punching holes
  • Basketry tools, if you have them

Kits will be available for $5. (Please bring exact cash if possible.)

Victoria James Bio:
